Local roads
RSF works with local authorities to improve the safety of local roads by using crash risk mapping to prioritise and scope investment, through assessing the safety of new roads, through developing new schemes for existing roads through the route review process and by providing tools to improve the results where new developements are introduced on the network. RSF provides advice and assistance with embedding iRAP and Safe System into policy and approach and works to establish Safe System Fatal Review Panels.
“Working with the Road Safety Foundation has provided numerous opportunities for our Authority to learn and develop our approach to Safe Systems and Vision Zero. The iRAP approach was instrumental in the beginning of our journey to look to work in a proactive way to seek to reduce the number of people killed and seriously injured on Kent’s roads and we look forward to continuing the working relationship to drive forward with our Road Safety work.”
“Essex has been working with, and been supported by, the Road Safety Foundation for some years now. The small expert team has supported us in designing two major iRAP identified and funded schemes and has provided training to a wide range of disciplines across multiple levels of the organisation. This has created a drive for proactive risk reduction as the tool for achieving our aspiration for zero road deaths and serious injuries by 2040 and had led to the approach being adopted in our highest-level policies. We have all appreciated the knowledge, passion and constant availability from the team in supporting our ambitions with practical guidance. The Road Safety Foundation has contributed significantly to improvements in road safety that will result in more and more lives saved in the years to come.”
