In 2020, fatal and serious casualties in Great Britain were down by 22% compared with 2019. In 2021, figures show an increase in fatal and serious casualties of 7 and 14% respectively compared with 2020. Compared with pre-Covid data (2019), 2021 fatal and serious casualties are both still down by 11%.

Despite what may be thought of as an encouraging recent death and serious injury reduction, the need for systematic and planned crash reduction remains high and the case for investment as strong as ever. This EuroRAP analysis is an important contribution to that effort.
